The Montreal Chamber Orchestra features Eckhardt Gramatté First Prize Winner, Su Jeon

On March 6, 2008, conductor Wanda Kaluzny leads the 2007 Eckhardt-Gramatté first-prize winner Su Jeon in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 2, in B flat Major. The program also includes Mozart’s Symphony no. 33 in B flat Major, Kulesha’s Serenade for String Orchestra and Delius’ Two Aquarelles.

Originally from Korea, Jeon began her piano studies at the Julliard School in 1998 eventually receiving a BA and a MA while studying with Julian Martin. In 2006 she completed an Artist Diploma at The Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory in Toronto as a student of Marc Durand.  Jeon is currently working on a doctorate at l’Université de Montréal where she studies with Marc Durand and Maneli Pizadeh.

Throughout her career, Jeon has won many music awards and has received recognition from numerous sources.  She has attended several Music Festivals including Aspen, Tanglewood (the youngest pianist invited as a fellow in 2001) and Orford as well as the Banff Centre Keyboard Festival.  Most recently she placed 4th and was awarded “best performance of a Canadian work” at the 2006 International Stepping Stone Competition.

Su Jeon won first prize in the 2007 Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition in Brandon, Manitoba.  This, her debut performance with the MCO, is part of a country-wide tour that Ms. Jeon is performing as part of that prize.

Founded in 1974 by Wanda Kaluzny, the MCO has earned a reputation for excellence and has achieved international recognition through its Laureate Concert Series, featuring guest soloists who have won international competitions.  Maestra Kaluzny believes that classical music nourishes and enriches lives and therefore should be accessible to everyone regardless of economic circumstances.  As a result, all concerts are free-of-charge thanks to our generous sponsors.  This evening’s performance is sponsored by Ogilvy Renault, Société Générale and the Music Performance Fund.

Who wants to know

Posted by Joan McGuigan

Will the market be good next year?
Who's buying and selling?
What do they think of us?

In September 2007, Multi-Reso did a public survey commissioned by the GMREB
in order to better understand buyers and sellers, their intentions to buy
and sell, and their level of satisfaction towards real estate estate agents.
The Greater Montreal Real Estate Board will be presenting to us the results
of this public survey at the end of the month of November.

Please let us know if you want to be first to receive these results…
